Blue Caves Paxos

MAGIC OF NATURAL BEAUTY

The western shoreline of Paxos boasts numerous sea caves, some of considerable size, such as the Ypapandi cave, which can accommodate cruise boats and ships. Accessible solely by sea, these caves can be explored either through organized daily boat excursions or by renting a boat for a personal adventure.

Among the island’s sea caves, the most frequented cluster is situated close to Erimitis beach, serving as a popular stop for swimming and relaxation during boat tours. Dubbed “the blue caves” due to the striking azure hue of the surrounding seawater, one cave features a collapsed roof, creating a natural aperture through which sunlight filters. Additionally, the majestic rock formation known as Ortholithos, a towering vertical rock protruding from the sea, stands in close proximity to the Blue Caves.
